Weekly Masonic Reflection Letter. June 3rd 2026.
“Woe unto you, fishers of men, hypocrites! You travel over land and sea to win a single convert, and when you have succeeded, you make him twice as much an enemy of righteousness as yourselves. Blind guides, will you never cease perverting the straight ways of the Lord?”
Dear Brethren, the Master of Galilee spoke these words against the religious leaders of all times. He exposed the tragic irony of zeal without wisdom, of gathering followers without transforming lives. Men traveled great distances to gain converts, yet too often they taught obedience to systems rather than devotion to God, blind conformity rather than character, and ritual rather than righteousness. We may increase membership, yet, fail to build and transform the heart and conscience of men.
The Grand Architect did not call us merely to be fishers of men. He called us to be builders of men. To build is woven into our very nature, for we are created in the image of the Divine Builder. The question is not whether we are building, but what we are building. Men have built empires, fortunes, reputations, and kingdoms of their own making. All such works eventually pass away. The work of Masonry is upon the immortal part of man, to strengthen character, cultivate virtue, encourage wisdom, and inspire a deeper reliance upon Divine Providence.
Masonry calls men out of a world of ego, pride, vanity, and love for recognition, into a new understanding of their purpose and their responsibilities before God and humanity. It teaches that true greatness is found in self-mastery; not in titles but in service; not in receiving honor but in becoming honorable. We build with our thoughts, our words, and our actions.
The life we live today is largely the structure we have been constructing through countless daily choices. We may choose to blame circumstances, criticize others, and assume the role of victim, or we may accept responsibility for the condition of our own souls and begin the work of improvement. Words can discourage or inspire, wound or heal, divide or unite. We build with our actions. Intentions alone create nothing. Noble plans, worthy goals, and lofty aspirations remain lifeless until translated into action. It is not what we intend to do that shapes our character, but what we actually do. Remove yourself from influences that weaken your character, distract your purpose, or encourage spiritual complacency.
Fraternally yours, The Presidency of the Society of Light.
Signed in Spirit and Truth.
