Weekly Masonic Reflection Letter: May 20th, 2026.
“Ye are the salt of the earth; but if the salt has lost its savor, it is no longer good for anything except to be cast out and trodden under foot.”
Dear Brethren, from the time of his creation, man was entrusted with truth, morality, and the sacred power to choose, by the Grand Architect. Through these gifts, man was expected to acquire wisdom and establish a world governed by moral law. This eternal science of righteous living is what we call today Masonry. We obtain this knowledge under sacred commitment to preserve the moral and spiritual foundations of civilization. Yet, what has become of the world under our watch?
We live in an age consumed by corruption, deception, greed, division, vulgarity, addiction, vanity, violence, and moral confusion. Truth is mocked, virtue is treated as weakness, and selfish ambition is celebrated as success. Institutions collapse under dishonesty, families weaken, communities fracture, and men increasingly surrender themselves to passions, distractions, and appetites. This decay does not happen by accident. It happens when we are content merely with titles, ceremonies, and social fellowship while society deteriorates around us. It happens when we seek recognition without transformation, repeat beautiful principles, yet tolerate division, ego, prejudice, and indifference even within our own ranks. We speak of brotherly love and truth while remaining silent before deception. We speak of virtue while supporting and excusing moral weakness in ourselves and others. Masonry did not fail mankind, we failed to become Masons.
The Galilean Master is clear: “But if the salt loses its savor” if Masons become indistinguishable from the profane world in conduct, speech, selfishness, pride, and vice, then we lose the very reason for our existence before God. The Grand Architect did not call us merely to wear aprons, memorize ritual, or gather in lodges. He called us to become living examples of moral discipline, self-government, brotherly love, courage, and truth. The world does not need more men who can quote Masonry; it needs men transformed by it. Let therefore our conduct distinguish us from the world rather than resemble it. Only then Masonry would be the force it was intended to be and God’s purposes for man shall be fulfilled.
Fraternally yours, The Presidency of the Society of Light.
Signed in spirit and truth.
