We are not a free Masonic organization, we are not Freemasonry, nor do we speak on behalf on any Freemasonic jurisdiction, lodge or organization. Weekly Masonic Reflection Letter: May 27th, 2026.

“Truly, I tell you, no one can understand the mysteries of the Kingdom of God unless he is born again.”

Dear Brethren, the Galilean Master reveals a timeless principle at the very heart of Masonry: the mysteries of God cannot be understood through birthright, worldly intellect, social status, or going through a ritual alone. They require transformation. They require that a man be spiritually reborn. Masonic initiation symbolizes this rebirth. It is not merely a ceremony performed for entertainment or prestige. It is a solemn awakening into a higher way of living, and a new understanding of one’s purpose and responsibilities before God and humanity. The initiate enters the Lodge as one man and God expects him to leave it striving to become another.

The candidate is warned that the path toward Light requires the divesting of the mind and conscience from the prejudices, selfish ambitions, and superfluities of worldly life. A man consumed by ego, pride, greed, status, or personal recognition cannot comprehend the moral science of Masonry because selfishness clouds judgment and blinds the soul to truth. Masonry therefore demands self-examination: What truly drives me? What governs my actions? Am I mastering my passions, or am I being mastered by them? As SOL President Bonagura wisely states: “Initiation takes the candidate through in-depth, inward, self-reflection on what is driving you and why you are driven by it, for if you will not be in control of the what and why, then you will not be in control of where you end up. Do you control each action or are you controlled? A sovereign or the subject?”

This is the great struggle of every soul: comfort, recognition, pleasure, superiority, and lust for worldly gain on one hand, and wisdom, discipline, truth, virtue, and alignment with the will of the Grand Architect on the other. Only one leads to Light, inner mastery, and to be “born again” Masonically, which means that a man no longer lives merely for himself, but consciously labors to improve his character, govern his passions, and discipline his thoughts, becoming useful in the service of God and humanity. It means placing truth above popularity, virtue above convenience, and duty above selfish desire.

Fraternally yours, The Presidency of the Society of Light.
Signed in spirit and truth.
